Já que The Runaways continua com sua agressiva promoção em vídeos, nós vamos assistí-los. Dessa vez foi um video para Cherry Bomb onde dá para ver melhor como que o filme vai ser. Mas cuidado, por mais que a ephebophilia não seja crime, lembre-se que a Dakota Fanning é aquela garotinha de Guerra dos Mundos com o Tom Cruise.
Ah, o filme estréia nos Estados Unidos no início de abril.

Jesus Built My Hot Rod na MTV e ficar completamente louco com aquela mistura estranha de industrial com punk rock e sei lá mais o que.
O chato foi que, devido a minha idade, acabei perdendo a época de ouro da banda, os anos pré Filth Pig, e com o fim da banda em 2008, sei que nunca vou vê-los ao vivo.
A minha sorte mudou hoje quando vi que em julho de 2010, seremos agraciados com um documentário sobre a banda de Al Jourgensen e Paul Barker. Ou seja, o moleque de 16 anos dentro de mim acabou de ficar um pouco mais feliz. Pena que eu não tenho mais uma blusa do Psalm 69 que usei até dissolver, mas pelo menos os posters ainda estão por aqui. Só falta emoldurar.

Com o fim da temporada do Oscar ontem, o mundo do cinema pode ver District 9 como a verdadeira obra prima que é. Afinal, em qualquer ano da história, esse seria o filme de ficção científica do ano e não Avatar. Mas esse não é o ponto desse post, abaixo temos o diretor do filme, Neill Blomkamp, falando no TEDxVancouver e você precisa assistir esse video.

Hoje eu acordei mais cedo que o normal e resolvi aproveitar meu tempo e assistir um filme. Pensando que só teria cerca de uma hora e meia antes de começar meu dia, escolhi o primeiro filme que se encaixasse nesse período de tempo. Não imaginava a sorte que eu teria quando eu escolhi assistir Hunger.
é com uma estranha calma e atenção estética que o filme explora o extremo físico e o extremismo político ao recriar o que ocorreu na prisão de Maze na Irlanda do Norte. Foi lá que os militantes do IRA – Exército Republicano Irlandês – realizaram uma série de prostestos contra o governo britânico em 1981 que culminaram numa greve de fome que culminou com a morte de Bobby Sands e de mais 9 outros prisioneiros. E a brutalidade do tema é tratada de forma tão paciente e cuidadosa pelo diretor Steve McQueen que o filme vira algo quase poético, o que gera um estranhismo interessante. Read more »

Esse ano vai ficar na história como o ano em que eu virei o chato do cinema. Foi em 2009 que resolvi ser psicótico e sair baixando e assistindo todos aqueles filmes que eu queria ver a anos mas nunca tinha visto. Foi em 2009 que passei a ver filmes coreanos, russos e sei lá de mais onde.
E esse também vai ser o ano em que eu tento indicar pro mundo alguns filmes que todos deveriam ter visto. São todos filmes lançados em 2009, seja aqui no Brasil, nos EUA ou na internet, e abaixo dá para ver o trailer deles. Prefiro trailers a posters porque assim já dá pra ver um pouco do filme e já facilita em alguma coisa quando você for procurar por ele.

I had always wanted to be a film director since seeing A Clockwork Orange
, but it was in the same way that I wanted to be a train driver. It wasn’t practical really. I never went about doing anything about it. I did plays at school and I directed assemblies on stage. Then I went to university and started doing drama. I started directing there properly but I was directing for theatre (not film).
When I came to London for a job in the theatre, I was living in a place in Fulham with some mates. They gave me a bedroom to stay in. I was an assistant stage manager, driving the truck, sweeping up and setting up the stages. They were an amazing company called Joint Stock Theatre Company. Outside the flat in Fulham, there was this huge billboard.
One day, this black poster went up with Apocalypse Now
I guess what it does it that it collides some of the elements of American mainstream cinema from the time and art. That was what Coppola had done in a way. What was interesting about it for me was that I was so transformed by it.
My dad came down to stay with me in London. I wanted to take him to see Apocalypse Now. The only place it was on was at the Prince Charles cinema. Then, unlike now, the Prince Charles cinema usually showed porn but they were showing Apocalypse Now. I took him to see it. Before the film began, there were all these trailers for porn. It was so embarrassing sitting there with my dad, watching these quite explicit group-sex orgy films.
Then Apocalypse Now began and we sat there. What I remember was trying to persuade him how great it was. It was like trying to persuade him that Led Zeppelin
It’s typical of being that kind of age that I never really asked him what he thought of the film. I tried to convince him what a great film it was but he never spoke about it in that way.
There is something that haunts most directors, which is that we don’t really do anything useful although we’re thought of as being useful. He [my dad] fought in the war and contributed something and yet all I wanted him to do was watch Francis Ford Coppola’s version of the war. It didn’t undermine the film for me but it categorises film for me in a way. Film often runs in parallel with life and it feeds off it but I don’t think it necessarily nurtures it. I don’t think it necessarily contributes in the way we think it does. We, in our world, in our bubble that we work in, imagine that it does but I am not sure that it does.
Para Danny Boyle, o filme que fez a diferença para ele foi Apocalypse Now! – posso dizer que algo aconteceu na minha cabeça depois que vi esse filme pela primeira vez também.
